The Information Technology, or IT, Department is tasked several duties including, but not limited to:

  • Overseeing operations of and supervise computer, network, phone, printer, and all other technology related systems
  • Maintain all user accounts to all GCSO and GCDC systems
  • Order, replace, and maintain all technology related systems including but not limited to; desktop computers, laptop computers, phones, printers, printer ink, internet access points, CCTV Cameras, body worn and in truck camera systems, network switches, network firewalls, network servers, etc.
  • Design and implement IT Strategies and infrastructure
  • Maintain system security and operation by monitoring systems
  • Identify and Eliminate security risks
  • Assist the Jail and Sheriff Administration in developing, managing, and tracking the IT department's annual budget
  • Consult with Jail and Sheriff Administration to identify business and technology needs and to optimize the use of information technology
  • Maintain the Greene County Sheriff's Office webpage
  • Ensure technology compliance with Arkansas jail standards, Arkansas Crime Information Center (ACIC) standards, as well as the federal Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) standards.

The IT Director also serves as the departments Local Agency Security Officer (LASO) for the Arkansas Crime and Information Center.

 

Drone Program

Both members of the I.T. Department are Pilots for the drone program. Both Pilots log numerous training hours per month and train with different teams within the department such as K9 units and SRT. The Drone program currently flies a Yuneec H520 Drone equipped with thermal imaging technology and a high resolution camera, and with continued success is looking to add additional drones in the future.
